came into being by the sheer number of independent films being created and the utter failure of the label distribution companies to recognize and represent some of the most original and exceptional films today. The reasons for this shortsightedness are plentiful, ranging from the year the film was made to the lack of star power to intellectual subject matters, even to the superficial qualities of the films such as the look of the film or how it was filmed, but none offer any benefit, fiduciary or otherwise, to the filmmakers who have sacrificed so much and put so much of themselves into their films.

strives to occupy the void left by an industry increasingly subjugated to studios and the whims of their corporate holders, archaic marketing trends, and financial influences and an inability to adapt to the variety and increasing quality of films being made by the independent and digital film communities.

distinguishes itself from other distributors in two ways: Firstly, while being open to the diverse array of films being made today, we are very selective, focusing on the best of those independent films. The standards by which accepts films into its family are high, but fair, and based the quality of the film rather than on its imagined market value. Secondly, although may be granted by the filmmaker the exclusive or non-exclusive right as distributor of a film, we do not ask the filmmaker to relinquish ownership of the film. In other words, the film continues to be owned by the filmmaker(s). If a theatrical or video store distribution becomes available to that film by an outside party, filmacre simply sells the distribution rights back to either the filmmaker or the larger distribution company, and any contracts are based on percentage and not on overhead.

Filmacre respects the filmmaker and the filmmaking process because we understand that distribution is a necessary step for the independent filmamker.
